St. Patrick’s Day is a religious holiday for Irish Catholics that celebrates St. Patrick and how he drove the snakes out of Ireland which symbolizes the eradication of pagan beliefs and the rise of Christianity in Ireland. What I wanted to know is how it became a holiday synonymous with drunkenness. Because this holiday falls during the lent reason, St. Patrick’s Day is a feast day where Irish Catholics can engage in drinking and dancing. Hence how St. Patrick’s Day has become synonymous with loud drunken people.
